Terms of Service

These terms apply to purchases of PostgreSQL for Everything (the "Book") and its companion source code (the "Code"), sold through provenbackends.com. By buying or using them, you agree to these terms.

1. Who we are

The Book and the Code are written and published by Agostinho Sousa, an individual based in Porto, Portugal ("I", "me"). You can contact me at support@provenbackends.com. I reply to support requests within 3 business days.

2. Payments and our reseller

Orders are processed by Creem (Armitage Labs OÜ), which acts as the merchant of record and reseller for all purchases. Creem handles payment, invoicing and sales tax (such as VAT) for your order, and its Buyer Terms also apply to the transaction. Prices are shown in euros and include VAT where applicable.

3. What you get

• Complete Edition: the Book as a PDF and the Code as a ZIP archive, for use by one person.
• Team Edition: the same files, for use by up to 5 people on the same team or company.

Download links are delivered by email right after payment. Keep a copy of your files; if you lose them, contact me and I will send them again.

4. License

The Code is released under the MIT license, included in the ZIP archive. You may use, modify and distribute it in your own projects, including commercial ones.

The Book is protected by copyright. Your purchase gives you a personal, non-transferable license to read it and keep copies for your own use (or, with the Team Edition, for up to 5 team members). You may not resell, share publicly, or redistribute the Book or substantial parts of it.

5. Refunds

If the Book isn't right for you, email support@provenbackends.com within 14 days of purchase and I will refund you in full. No questions asked. Refunds are issued through Creem to your original payment method.

Because the Book is digital content delivered immediately, you agree at checkout that delivery starts right away. This means the statutory EU right of withdrawal may no longer apply once you download the files. The 14-day refund above applies anyway.

6. Using the material

The Book and Code are educational material. The code was tested with the versions stated in the Book, but it is provided "as is", without warranty. Review and test anything you take from it before using it with production systems or real data. To the extent permitted by law, I am not liable for indirect or consequential damages arising from its use. My total liability is limited to the amount you paid. Nothing in these terms limits your rights as a consumer under applicable law.

7. Changes

I may update these terms. The version published on this page on the date of your purchase applies to that purchase.

8. Law

These terms are governed by Portuguese law. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of your country of residence.
